A mother of a teenage child has criticized Acapulco nightclub in Halifax for selling 10 Jagerbombs for €7.50. Janice Hopper said she was lucky to find her 16 years old daughter passed out in the doorway of a nearby bingo hall before others did.
Hopper stated, "There was a group of 12 of them, four of them aren't 18 yet, but as most of them had ID, they were let in and told to bring it next time." "I think they should review the door staff and also the drink prices.
Children should not be able to get into a nightclub and purchase alcohol cheaper than most soft drinks available over the bar. It just encourages binge drinking and will only end with bad things happening.
"From what my daughter is saying, it's quite easy to get in there without ID - which is shocking. I understand that these businesses have been closed for a long period but they shouldn't be taking risks at the expense of our children's safety."
However, Simon Woodcock who runs the nightclub defends the issue saying that the low price promotion is for less wealthy customers to buy and consume drinks and operates only till 11 PM.
