Biden to increase the production of electric vehicles up to 50% by 2030

The Biden administration has been very keen on improving the usage of electric vehicles. The administration has ordered automakers to cut out tailpipe pollution and raise the gas mileage.

The administration on Thursday announced there would be new mileage and anti-pollution standards from the Environmental Protection Agency and Transportation Department, part of Biden’s goal to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030.

The target is to make electric vehicles usage up to 40% or 50% by 2030. This dramatic shift in the number of electric vehicles in the U.S. can only happen with policies that include incentives for electric vehicle purchases, adequate government funding for charging stations.

Biden also has focused on setting up more electric vehicle manufacturing and parts supply chains. This electric vehicle initiative from Biden is also a part of his plan to increase the number of automobile jobs around the country. According to Edmunds.com report, only 2.2% of the cars in the U.S. are fully electric.
