Police assaulted by five during Covid-19 arrest

Updated: Sep 15, 2021

During a covid-19 check in Sydney's west, a police officer was assaulted by a group of 5 men. Five men were charged for hosting an illegal party breaching coronavirus restrictions, resisting arrest and assaulting police officers.

The arrest was made when police came into check up of the reported party at Unicombe Crescent, Oakhurst, about 4.10 pm on Saturday. The group of men were drinking in a garage, NSW Police said in a statement.

And when police asked for identification, they allegedly refused to show it. "After informing the men of the possible Covid-19 breach, the occupant, a man aged 44 allegedly, pushed an officer in the chest," police said.

The other four men in the garage then allegedly became violent and attempted to hinder police, with police required to deploy pepper spray to subdue the men.

Police said the officers sustained minor injuries and, all five men were arrested and taken to Mt Druitt police station.
