Stadium at Pune Is To Be Named After Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra

A stadium in Pune Army Sports Institute (ASI) is to be named after Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Subedar Neeraj Chopra at a ceremony on August 23. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be at the institute on August 23 to commemorate the event.

The Army Sports Institue(ASI), established in 2001 under the Mission Olympics programme, is a multi-disciplinary sports training institute in Pune. It provides training in seven field sports: archery, athletics, boxing, diving, wrestling, fencing and weightlifting. Office-bearer said that in the ceremony at the ASI, Rajnath Singh will be felicitating 16 Olympians from the Indian Army who competed in Tokyo Olympics.


In the presence of Singh, the stadium of the Army Sports Institute are going to be named ‘Neeraj Chopra Army Stadium, Pune Cantonment,’ officials said.
