Tropical Storm Nicholas Might Cause 'Life Threatening' Damages.

The 14th named storm of 2021 Atlantic Hurricane season Nicholas is soon to reach hurricane status when it slams ashore later Monday.

Schools are closed and, warnings are issued across the Gulf Coast. Nicholas, centred about 70 miles southeast of Port Aransas, Texas, has headed north at 2 p.m. ET.

"Strengthening is forecast today, and Nicholas could reach the northwest Gulf coast as a hurricane," National Hurricane Center senior specialist Eric Blake said. Texas coastline will get around 8 to 16 inches of rainfall.

In southwest Louisiana, 5 to 10 inches of rain is expected. Gov. Greg Abbott said resources are deployed in Houston and along the Gulf Coast of Texas ahead of the storm.

Nicholas is moving towards the same area of Texas, which Hurricane Harvey hit in 2017.
