Trump Ends Twitter Break with New Video Portraying Himself as the Nation's Hero

Former President Donald Trump has ended a year-long absence from X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, by releasing a new Hollywood-style campaign video that portrays him as the nation's hero.

The video features footage of the FBI raid on his Florida estate to retrieve classified documents, along with audio of Trump declaring his intent to fight back and "obliterate the deep state." His return to X coincides with an interview scheduled for Monday night with the platform's owner and Trump supporter, Elon Musk.

Trump also shared a promotional image for the interview on his feed.

His last post on X was on August 24, 2023, when he shared his mugshot after being indicted on charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

After being banned from X for nearly two years following the 2021 insurrection, Trump was allowed back on the platform after Musk acquired it in late 2022. By that time, he had already launched his competing platform, Truth Social, which he continues to use, despite having far fewer followers there than on X.

On Monday morning, a video resembling a Trump post but not appearing on his feed began circulating on X. This video features archival footage of former President Ronald Reagan, a beloved figure among Republicans after his presidency, suggesting that Reagan, who passed away in 2004, would endorse Trump for president.

The video states, "If the answer is no," followed by a suggestion for an alternative choice—showcasing Trump as that option. Some members of the Kennedy family expressed their discontent with the video, arguing that JFK would not have supported his nephew’s political views.
