US Plans To Inject Booster Shots for People 8 Months Post Vaccination.

The White House on Wednesday announced that people should get injected with booster shots after eight months of vaccination. The booster shot will be given to people after the second dosage of either Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines.

This decision was made to handle the uncontrollable and deadliest delta variant of the virus. "Based on our latest assessment, the current protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death could diminish in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or vaccinated during the earlier phases of the vaccination rollout. For that reason, we conclude that a booster shot will be needed to maximize vaccine-induced protection and prolong its durability," a group of eight officials, including infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr Rochelle Walensky, said in the statement.

The booster shots will be available from September 20. Jeff Zients, the White House covid-19 told that getting a booster shot is just as easy as taking the covid vaccination. However, those who have taken one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is likely to get the booster shot. But, the company has not completed the clinical trials yet evaluating the effectiveness of an additional dose.
